Gluten-free items are showing up on more and more menus these days. Fortel’s in Affton caters to customers who can’t tolerate wheat-based bread, chicken tenders, brownies, and pizza crusts.
Offering gluten-free items is our pleasure. We are dedicated to providing high quality and great tasting gluten-free products. Our gluten free items are made with smart flour (tapioca flour, amaranth flour, and sorghum flour) and they contain eggs. We take every measure possible to ensure that all of our gluten-free products meet, and often times exceed the international standards of 20 parts per million of the gluten protein in wheat, rye, and barley. Fortel’s confirms with manufacturers that each of the gluten-free products are specified as such.
To ensure that the purity of your food is not compromised, we educate and train all employees on the importance of properly selling, making, and serving our gluten-free products. All gluten-free products are handled only after an employee’s hands have been thoroughly washed. All ingredients used on our gluten-free pizzas are kept separate and specific gluten free only equipment is used. We even have an oven that is only used for gluten free items.
